Sturlureykirhorses

Sturlureykir is a family run farm located in the west of Iceland, with about 60 horses and 5 to 7 foals every year.  We have offered ridingtours for more than 30 years both long and short trips.  On our farm you can meet and pet our horses and also find some beautiful horses out of our old breeding line, dating back to 1936 in world fengur (Icelandic Horse Registry). Our horses have a big character and we also have quite big horses, for example one of our stallions Vakandi is 154cm at shoulder height.

Our family story dates back to 1886, we have the first geothermal heating system in Europe built in 1907, one of the oldest breeding farms of Icelandic horses in the world. Same family, same place. We have a “underground” bakery and always offer our homebaked ryebred to our guests.
